Down 0-1, South Africa will look to bounce back and level the series when they clash in the third ODI against West Indies at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom on Tuesday (March 21).
After rain washed out the first ODI on Thursday (March 16) at the Buffalo Park in East London, West Indies beat the hosts by 48 runs in the second ODI at the same venue on Saturday (March 18) to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Captain Shai Hope scored an unbeaten hundred to power West Indies to 335/8 in their allotted 50 overs. In response, his counterpart and South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma's hundred went in vain as the hosts were bowled out inside 42 overs. Alzarri Joseph and Akeal Hosein claimed three wickets each for the visitors.
With many key players, including Aiden Markram and David Miller, returning for the hosts, there could be a few changes to their line-up, while West Indies are expected to stick to their winning combination barring any injury.
This will be the final ODI before South Africa host Netherlands in two crucial matches that will have a huge say on their direct qualification for the 2023 World Cup.
