West Indies to begin their tour of South Africa with a two-match Test series, scheduled to start from Tuesday (February 28) at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.
The two-match series will then conclude with the second Test, which is scheduled to start from March 8, at the Wanderers in Johannesburg before the series continues with six white ball matches - three ODIs followed by three T20Is.
Both teams are out of contention for a berth in the World Test Championship Final 2023. West Indies are currently placed sixth in the ICC WTC standings, while South Africa are placed fourth. A series win can help the West Indies move above the Proteas in the standings.
This will be South Africa's first Test assignment since their 0-2 away series loss in Australia, where West Indies also lost a series 0-2 before claiming 1-0 series win in Zimbabwe in their most recent red ball outing.
The hosts will be now be led by Temba Bavuma, who takes over the reigns from Dean Elgar. The former skipper is still part of the squad with the Proteas batting line-up being bolstered by the return of Keegan Petersen from injury, and recalls for Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton.
Heinrich Klaasen will play as a wicketkeeper-batsman, while the squad also contains three uncapped players - batter Tony de Zorzi, fast bowler Gerald Coetzee and left-arm spinner Senuran Muthusamy.
The visitors, meanwhile, have named two uncapped players in the squad that will be led by Kraig Brathwaite as left-handed batter Alick Athanaze and right-arm seamer Akeem Jordan earn call ups.
