South Africa had a real struggle to earn direct qualification for the World Cup 2023. But the Proteas made it to the automatic qualification and will be taking part in the ODI World Cup which commences on October 5 in India.

A team in transition, the Proteas will be hoping to prove their mettle at the biggest stage of World Cricket, especially after underwhelming performances over the years.

The South African team will commence their campaign against one of the Qualifiers teams which will be played on October 7 in Delhi. This follows a monumental clash against Australia on October 11 in Lucknow.

Aiden Markram and co. will travel to Mumbai for a clash against the defending champions England and then they will be shifting to the southern city of Chennai to face Pakistan. The much-anticipated clash against India will be taking place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on November 5, and they finish their group stage campaign against Afghanistan on Novmeber 10.

South Africa World Cup 2023 Venues

The Proteas will be playing in eight venues during their group-stage matches. They will be playing twice at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, while playing one each in seven other venues.

Hyderabad and Bengaluru are the two venues where we won't see any of the Proteas matches.

South Africa had an underwhelming World Cup in 2019, when they were ousted from the group stages. In the 2015 World Cup, they were eliminated from the semifinals.

In this year, all ten teams will play one legged affair against the other teams as there will be a single points table. After the completion of the Round Robin matches, the top four teams will advance to the semifinals.
