South Delhi Superstarz And East Delhi Riders Launch DPL 2025 With Thrilling Opener

The Delhi Premier League 2025 kicked off at Arun Jaitley Stadium with a thrilling match between South Delhi Superstarz and East Delhi Riders, showcasing local talent and excitement.

The Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 began with an exhilarating match between South Delhi Superstarz and East Delhi Riders on August 2 at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The vibrant opening ceremony featured electrifying performances by Sunanda Sharma, Raftaar, KRSNA, and Seedhe Maut before crowd witnessed an engaging game of cricket from local stars.

Distinguished guests included Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, former Union Minister Smriti Irani, DDCA President Rohan Jaitley, and BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla.

DPL 2025 kicks off

South Delhi Superstarz batted first after winning the toss and set a target of 169/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Kunwar Bidhuri was dismissed early by Ajay Ahlawat. Sarthak Ray and captain Ayush Badoni then formed a partnership of 43 runs before Badoni was out for 25 from 20 balls. A series of quick wickets left them struggling at 82/5.

Vision Panchal joined Sarthak Ray at the crease, contributing a brisk 29 off just 15 balls in a crucial sixth-wicket stand of 32 runs. Abhishek Khandelwal later bolstered the innings with an unbeaten knock of 40 from 23 balls. Sarthak Ray remained not out on 41 off 35 deliveries, helping the Superstarz reach a competitive total.

DPL 2025 Begins with Exciting Opener

In response, East Delhi Riders started their chase with openers Arpit Rana and Sujal Singh putting together a partnership of 33 runs in just over four overs. Rana scored 20 off 15 balls before being dismissed, followed shortly by Sujal Singh who managed only 11 off 18 deliveries.

Anuj Rawat, the East Delhi captain, along with Hardik Sharma steadied the innings. Sharma added a valuable contribution of 27 from 23 balls to maintain momentum. Despite Sharma's dismissal, Anuj Rawat's impressive innings of 55 off just 35 balls kept the chase alive alongside Mayank Rawat's quickfire 30 off 20 balls.

With the game hanging in balance and needing 15 runs from the final over, Rohan Rathi and Kavya Gupta displayed nerves of steel. Rathi hit a six on the last ball to secure a thrilling five-wicket victory for East Delhi Riders.

He stated, "The second season of the Delhi Premier League officially begins today, and it marks another significant step forward in nurturing local cricketing talent. I extend my best wishes to all the teams and players participating this year. May the league continue to grow in stature and provide a strong platform for emerging stars to shine."
