Although the dust has just settled following the IPL 2025 retentions, the Indian cricket team is already in action in Mumbai against New Zealand.

1. Most Ducks for India in a Test Series

The Indian cricket team reached a new low in the ongoing Test series against New Zealand. The team registered its 13th duck during the first innings, which is the most for an Indian team in a three-match Test series. The previous most was 12 in a series against England in 1974.

2. India manage a slender lead in Mumbai

The Indian team secured a slender 28-run lead after the first innings in the ongoing Test match against New Zealand. After bundling out the Kiwis for 235 runs, the hosts posted 263 runs.

3. Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant slam Fifties

Shubman Gill scored a fantastic 90 while Rishabh Pant slammed 60 off just 59 balls to steer the Indian ship in the right direction. Gill and Pant's 96-run partnership was crucial for the Indian team as they mounted a comeback on the 2nd day of the Test match.

4. Ben Stokes set to miss IPL 2025

Ben Stokes is poised to miss the IPL 2025 in order to focus on Test cricket. The England captain is tipped to skip the cash-rich league in order to prioritise playing for England. Stokes has previously played for Rajasthan Royals, while his last outing in the IPL was with Chennai Super Kings in 2021.

5. Ricky Ponting excited to build from scratch at PBKS

Punjab Kings new head coach Ricky Ponting is cherishing his new assignment as the Kings look to enter the IPL 2025 auction with the biggest purse. PBKS retained two uncapped players from last season and will be heading into the auction with a purse of Rs 110.5 crore.
"I'm most excited about a fresh start. It begins with today's retention list. Our strategy is clear; we're entering the auction with just two uncapped players and the largest purse by far, allowing us the flexibility to construct an entire squad," Ponting said during a chat with ICC.

6. Real Madrid's match against Valencia postponed due to Flood

Cristiano Ronaldo saw Yellow Card as Al Nassr failed to win their derby against Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League. Anderson Talisca scored in the 1st minute for Al Nassr, but Sergej Milinkovic-Savic's goal 13 minutes from time managed to keep Al Hilal unbeaten in the league, who also remain on top of the table. Ronaldo had a disappointing outing as the Portugal star has now failed to find the net in three matches.

8. Ravi Bopara hits Robin Uthappa for 6 Sixes in an Over

Former England player Ravi Bopara slammed 6 sixes in an over in the bowling of Robin Uthappa in the Hong Kong Sixes Tournament. The Indian team, led by Uthappa, have lost all of their four matches so far in the tournament.

9. Man United persuaded Ruben Amorim to sign immediately

Manchester United persuaded Ruben Amorim to sign with the club on an immediate basis. The former Sporting CP manager wanted to stay till the end of the season but the Red Devils wanted him to come at Old Trafford without any notice period. Amorim has replaced Ten Hag at the club and his first assignment will be a clash against Chelsea on Sunday.
