Sreesanth-Gambhir Fight: What Happened Between Two Former India Teammates In LLC Season 2 Match?

Former India teammates Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth were on Wednesday (December 6) night involved in a heated exchange during the Legends League Cricket (LLC) Season 2 Eliminator match between Gujarat Giants and India Capitals.

It all triggered in the second over of the match when India Capitals' Gambhir smashed Gujarat Giants' Sreesanth for a six and a four, which led to the pacer sledging his former teammate at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat.

Later, Sreesanth and Gambhir were locked in a heated argument with umpires separating the pair. Gambhir regained his calm and powered Capitals to 223 with a 30-ball 51, and in response the Giants fell 12 runs short of the target to exit the tournament.

After the match, Sreesanth tried to give clarity in video posted on social media about what had happened on the field as he accused Gambhir of disrespecting his colleagues and also called him out for his analysis of Virat Kohli.

"Just wanted to clear some air on what happened with Mr. Fighter, who always fights with all his colleagues for no reason whatsoever. He doesn't even respect his own senior players, including Viru bhai and a lot of people. That's exactly what happened today," Sreesanth said in the video after the match..

"Without any provocation, he just kept on calling me, something which is very rude and something which should not have been said by Mr. Gautam Gambhir. So, I just want to tell you all that I am not at all at fault.

"I just wanted to clear the air straight away. Sooner or later you'll get to know what Gauti has done. The words which he used and the things he said on a cricket field live are not acceptable."

"He said things which he should not have said, and I just want all of you to know that I will surely let you all know what he said. What's the point of representing people if you don't respect colleagues?

"Even in live when he is asked about Virat (Kohli), he never speaks about him and speaks about something else. I don't want to go further in detail. Just want to say I am very hurt, my family is hurt, and my dear ones are hurt. I never abused him, but he kept on saying words, which he always does," he added.

Sreesanth, who was once banned for spot-fixing, later revealed in another video posted on his Instagram account that Gambhir called him a "fixer" with a post that read: "I am truly grateful for the wonderful opportunities that life has given me, including the privilege of playing cricket. I want to express my sincere love and respect to all of you.

"I will continue to give my best without worrying about anything else. Your love and support mean the world to me, and I humbly ask for your continued encouragement.

"I am just an ordinary individual from Kerala who had the fortune of winning two world cups, thanks to the grace of God. Rest assured, those who spread false news will receive their just consequences."

Gambhir, meanwhile, took to social media himself to post "Smile when the world is all about attention!". The post could be aimed at Sreesanth, who has been accused by many fans as trying to seek attention.

Gambhir has been involved in heated exchanges even with Kohli in the past and has ofted called out the former Indian skipper for his captaincy in the Indian Premier League with Royal Challengers Bangalore. Sreesanth also is known to sledge players, resulting in arguments during his career.
