SRH Playoff Chances: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday (April 23) night suffered another dent to their IPL 2025 playoff hopes following a 7-wicket loss to Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Put into bat, SRH's much-hyped top ordered collapsed inside powerplay as MI's pace duo of Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult delivered telling blows, reducing home side to 13/4 in 4.1 overs before finding the fifth 4 overs later, leaving the last season's runners up reeling at 35/5 in 8.3 overs.

Heinrich Klaasen and the forced Impact sub Abhinav Manohar put on a fight, scoring 71 and 43 respectively to take Sunrisers to a respectable total, but the duo's fightback went in vain as Mumbai Indians made lightwork of the run chase of 144.
SRH bowlers could not replicate what their counterparts in MI had to offer in the first innings as Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav hit them to all parts to the park to chase down the target with 26 balls to spare and completed the double over the Hyderabad-based side, denting their chances of playoffs.
With this defeat, Sunrisers suffered their sixth defeat of the season in eight games to sit in ninth position with 4 points on IPL 2025 points table, and not the foot of the table due to their sligthly better Net Run Rate (NRR). However, they can still finish in the top four and repeat last season's feat.
SRH's chances of qualifying are quite low after suffering their sixth loss of the season, but the last season's finalists can still make it to the top four on the standings at the end of the league.
In their remaining 6 matches, Pat Cummins' side will need to win all the matches handsomely to get to 16 points, which has been the magic number for teams to get into the top-four without needing much help from other results and NRR calculations.
Sunrisers can also qualify with five wins in 6 matches, which could see them end up with 14 points, but to progress from that position, they would need several other results to go their way, especially the teams in the top four losing most of their games, which is very unrealistic at this stage.
SRH is still alive in the race as thing stands although difficult, but they can get their campaign back on track, starting with their next fixture against bottom side Chennai Super Kings, who also possess a similar record to the Hyderabad-based side.
Apart from their trip to Chennai to face CSK, Sunrisers will also travel to Ahmedabad to face table-topper Gujarat Titans before hosting Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders in their remaining two home matches. Here is a look at SRH's remaining matches schedule:
