In Match 18 of IPL 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad will lock horns with the defending champion Chennai Super Kings at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday (April 5).

This will be the fourth match for both franchises. CSK won two out of the three matches whereas SRH won only one by playing the same number of games. In the past, they met each other 19 times and CSK had an overwhelming dominance over SRH by 14 to 5. In the last campaign of IPL the Yellow Brigade beat SRH by 7 wickets.

IPL 2024 SRH vs CSK: Bowling Squad Comparison

Compared to the SRH bowling unit, CSK has a more balanced and experienced bowling squad as the SRH is quite pace-heavy.

SRH's pace attack is full of star players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Pat Cummins, T. Natarajan and Jayadev Unadkat who all have ample experience in IPL. As Wanindu Hasaranga will miss the season, their spin attack will be heavily dependent on Mayank Markande and Washington Sundar.

CSK have bowlers like Ravindra Jadeja, Mustafizur Rahman, Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande and Shardul Thakur in their squad. The five-time champions have experienced and skilled bowlers in all the departments. Tushar Deshpande was their highest wicket-taker in the last IPL. This season also CSK bowlers are performing quite well.

Pat Cummins (SRH): The SRH captain is currently the leading wicket-taker in the squad with 4 wickets in 3 matches. The Aussie fast bowler now has 49 wickets in his IPL career. If he can remain fit for all of the season, we can expect some fiery spells from Cummins this season.

Mayank Markande (SRH): The right-arm leg spinner from Punjab is now the only available regular spinner for the SRH unit who has some experience in the IPL. In the middle overs, SRH has to depend upon him to check the run rate of the opponents. In this season Markande has bagged 3 wickets in 3 matches making his tally reach 32. With the ability to throw googly well enough to trick the batters into sending them back to the dugouts, he will be pivotal in the match against CSK also.

Matheesha Pathirana (CSK): The 21-year-old Srilankan youngster joined CSK in 2022. The right-arm fast bowler has played only 16 matches in IPL and picked 25 wickets already. In two matches in IPL 2024, he scalped 4 opponent batters with an economy rate of 7.50. He expected to bowl well in the match against SRH also.

After a good start in IPL 2024 with two successive wins, CSK bit the dust against DC in the last match. While SRH, after wreaking havoc on MI bowling by scoring 277 for 7, failed to win against GT in the next match. Both of these former champions will do their best in this match to return to the winning folds. Hence, a nail-biting thriller can be expected from this Friday evening match.
