SRH vs CSK IPL 2024: Three Reasons why Chennai Super Kings will Win today vs SRH

By MyKhel Staff

Chennai Super Kings are up against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 18 of IPL 2024 today (Friday, April 5) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The CSK side are coming on the back of a defeat in the last match at the hands of Delhi Capitals, whereas SRH also suffered a loss against Gujarat Titans. As the two teams lock horns in this important tie, there is a good chance for CSK to get back to winning ways.

SRH vs CSK IPL 2024

Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Chennai Super Kings had to endure their first loss in the last match, but they are likely to turn the table and register two points at the end of today's match. Here are the reasons why CSK are likely to win over SRH in Hyderabad-

SRH vs CSK: Why Chennai Super Kings may win Today vs Sunrisers Hyderabad?

CSK dominance over SRH

Chennai Super Kings have been historically dominant over Sunrisers Hyderabad. Out of 19 matches, CSK have won 14 while SRH have just managed 5. With a win percentage of over 73, this is the best for a team against a single opponent in IPL. Hence the record overwhelmingly favours Chennai Super Kings.

A More Balanced Side

Chennai Super Kings definitely have a much more balanced side than Sunrisers Hyderabad. They piled up a mammoth 277 in the last match but also conceded 246 runs, which exposed the glaring shortcomings in their bowling. CSK do possess a better mix of spin and pace attack and the added factors of MS Dhoni and their sensational pacer Matheesha Pathirana enhance their quotient.

The Lord Effect

Mustafizur Rahman is out for this match. The Bangladeshi pacer has gone to his country to process his US visa for the upcoming T20 World Cup. But a simple replacement in Shardul Thakur can be the telling factor for them. Shardul has an excellent record against two key SRH batters, Heinrich Klaasen and Abhishek Sharma. Shardul has picked up Klaasen twice in 11 balls, whereas Abhishek Sharma has departed twice in just 14 balls. Hence that can be another positive for CSK if they can play the Indian all-rounder.
