Delhi Capitals are in tatters in the IPL 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad today (May 5) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
The Capitals finished at 26 for 4 at the end of the powerplay, thus registering the second lowest score in the first six overs in this edition of the IPL.

Opting to bowl first, SRH captain Pat Cummins delivered a masterclass in seam bowling. He struck on the very first delivery, dismissing Karun Nair for a duck. Cummins continued his assault by removing Faf du Plessis and Abishek Porel, leaving DC reeling at 19/3 within the first five overs. By the end of the powerplay, DC's score stood at a precarious 26/4, marking one of their most challenging starts in the tournament.
In IPL 2025, the lowest powerplay score so far has been 24/4 by SRH against Mumbai Indians. The Capitals have scored the 2nd lowest total this season and they have also equalled the record of losing most wickets among the low scoring teams in the IPL 2025.
SRH - 24/4 vs MI
DC - 26/4 vs SRH
CSK - 30/3 vs RCB
CSK - 31/2 vs KKR
SRH - 33/3 vs KKR
While DC's 26/4 is concerning, it doesn't rank among the lowest powerplay scores in IPL history. The lowest powerplay score recorded is 14/2 by Rajasthan Royals against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009, an edition of IPL which was played entirely in South Africa. Sunrisers Hyderabad themselves matched this record in 2022, scoring 14/3 against Rajasthan Royals.
