SRH vs GT IPL 2024: Who Will be the Highest Wicket-takers in Hyderabad vs Gujarat?

In the 66th Match of IPL 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad will lock horns with Gujarat Titans at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday (May 16).

These two teams have met four times in the past and Gujarat have won three out of them. The only victory of Hyderabad was back in 2022. Their last meeting was the reverse fixture of this match in this IPL, where GT beat SRH by seven wickets.

SRH vs GT IPL 2024 Pat Cummins

Currently fourth-placed SRH, with 14 points in 12 matches, is just one step away from qualifying for the playoffs. In their last match against LSG, the Lucknow side ate a humble pie as the Risers snatched a 10-wicket victory.

On the other hand,eighth-placed Titans missed the chance to reserve a berth in the play-offs due to the washout in the match against KKR. Currently, GT has 11 points in 13 matches.

IPL 2024 SRH vs GT: Bowling Squad Comparison

The pace-heavy bowling order of SRH has been quite expensive this season. The brutal displays by the SRH batters throughout the season complimented the shortcomings in bowling. Despite the presence of stars like Pat Cummins and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the pace-battery, T. Natarajan has been able to draw the focus towards him with brilliant performances. In the spin department, the right-arm leg-spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth will probably be the only option.

In comparison to the hosts, the visitors have a more balanced bowling side, but a slump in the form of Rashid Khan and the absence of Mohammed Shami have proven costly for the Titans. Mohit Sharma and Umesh Yadav will be the available options in the pace-attack. Sandeep Warrier could be an addition as an impact player. Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad will manage the spin department of GT in this match.

IPL 2024 SRH vs GT: Probable Top Four Wicket-takers in Match 66

Pat Cummins (SRH): The 31-year-old Australian right-arm fast bowler has 14 wickets in this season. The SRH skipper now has 59 wickets in his IPL career. Cummins will be vital to get some early success in powerplay overs.

T Natarajan (SRH): The 33-year-old left-arm medium-fast bowler has been exceptional in this IPL. He has bagged 15 wickets in just 10 matches. Though in the last two matches, Natarajan has failed to get any wickets, he would be useful against left-handed batters. He will be expected from him to shine again in this crucial moment for his team.

Rashid Khan (GT): The 25-year-old Afghan spinner has picked up 10 wickets so far this season. This right-arm leg-spinner did not do justice to his reputation this season and his team has to pay a heavy price for that. As both Heinrich Klaasen and Travis Head have fallen against spin five times each, Khan along with Noor Ahmad will be good matchups to prevent their run-fest.

Mohit Sharma (GT): The 35-year-old veteran pacer has 13 wickets this season and has led the GT-pace attack from the front. Despite having an average start to the campaign, the right-arm medium-fast bowler has been decent in the last few matches. Sharma will play a key role in dismantling the SRH top order in the early overs of the innings.

As the visitors are already eliminated from the tournament, they will try to end their campaign on a happy note. However, the situation is not so comfortable for the hosts. The final two matches will be crucial for them to secure a spot in the top four. As of now, victories in the last two matches could secure them a spot in the top two. Hence, an all-out approach will be expected from both the teams in this Thursday evening.
