SRH vs KKR, IPL 2026: Rovman Powell takes a Superb Catch to dismiss Klaasen - Watch

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium witnessed a special bit of fielding as Kolkata Knight Riders fielder Rovman Powell produced a moment of sheer brilliance to dismiss Sunrisers Hyderabad's Heinrich Klaasen on Sunday (May 3).

Klaasen, who had just smashed Cameron Green for a six and a four, looked set to unleash another explosive shot. However, Powell, stationed at deep midwicket, tore across to his right, leaped full stretch, and plucked a one-handed screamer with his right hand as the ball swerved away. He landed awkwardly but held on firmly, sparking wild celebrations in the KKR camp.

The athletic effort, widely hailed as a contender for Catch of the Season, sent Klaasen back for just 11 off 8 balls, pegging SRH back to 117 for 3 in the 11th over. Powell's heroics provided the much-needed breakthrough for KKR, who were battling SRH's strong batting lineup featuring Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma earlier.

SRH vs KKR: Why Rovman Powell's Catch is a Special One

Rovman Powell had to cover a decent amount of distance before grabbing the catch, for which he had to extend his arms. The West Indian held on to the ball, and after hitting the ground, he kept hold of it. His glasses took a tumble and the sunlight was also directly falling on his eyes, making it even more special. Powell has been excellent on the field for KKR, who have looked solid across the season with their catching.

SRH made a superb start with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. The pair added 44 runs for first wicket and then were 105/1 in the 9th over. But since Head departed for 61, the Orange Army have struggled with wickets falling in regular intervals. At the time of publishing, SRH are 156/7 in the 17th over, with captain Pat Cummins still at the crease.
