SRH vs LSG: KL Rahul's Slow Knock Sparks Outrage Among Fans on Twitter

By MyKhel Staff

Sunrisers Hyderabad's clash with Lucknow Super Giants at Uppal Stadium saw KL Rahul face intense criticism for his painstakingly slow 33-ball 29. Despite the pitch being on the slower side, fans expressed significant disappointment over Rahul's batting, which they felt bogged down the team's innings.

The match unfolded on a notably sluggish pitch, but fans argued that this did not justify Rahul's overly cautious approach. His performance became a flashpoint on social media, where fans voiced their frustration and concern over his form.

On Twitter, one fan expressed, "Kl Rahul is so frustrating to watch lol, how does LSG fans survive through this week in and out?" highlighting the exasperation among the spectators watching his defensive play.

Another echoed similar sentiments about the pitch conditions not being an excuse for such a slow scoring rate, stating, "Pitch is slow But not this much," coupled with a critique of Rahul's recent performance against SRH.

Some fans speculated on strategic play by opponents, with a tweet suggesting, "Pat Cummins using the same do not get KL Rahul out when he's batting strategy," referring to a previous match where Cummins' Australian team benefited from Rahul's sluggish innings in the crucial World Cup Final 2023 last year.

Accusations of selfish play were rampant. A Twitter user remarked, "KL Rahul is so selfish player than Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma right now the way he is playing. Because of KL Rahul's selfish and slow way batting cause other batsmen trying to hit the ball and get out," criticizing Rahul for putting pressure on his teammates to compensate for his slow scoring.

Even fans who have long supported Rahul expressed their disillusionment. One noted, "I am a big KL Rahul fan, but now I can say thank you BCCI for not considering Rahul for this World Cup," pointing out his unsuitability for the fast-paced demands of T20 cricket.

Another bluntly stated, "Kl Rahul is a stylish highly fckd up batsman.. happy he isn't selected for Worldcup.. man plays like he is the only batter in the team.. takes time and gets out.."

Furthermore, a fan pointed out strategic failures due to Rahul's batting style: "This was the main reason why KL Rahul was dropped from the WC squad, even after falling wickets you must maintain a good strike rate at least 130 as it is T20 format and powerful players to come. He maintains pressure on upcoming batters as run rate will be low."

The collective sentiment paints a picture of disappointment and suggests that Rahul's conservative batting approach may be out of sync with the aggressive requirements of modern T20 cricket, leaving fans and critics questioning his role in the high-stakes games.
