SRH vs MI IPL 2025: What Was The Turning Point As Mumbai Beat Hyderabad By 7 Wickets?

SRH vs MI: Mumbai Indians continued their strong run in IPL 2025 with a commanding 7-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 41 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on April 23 on Wednesday.

The game was effectively decided within the first six overs as SRH's top order suffered a dramatic collapse, slipping to 13/4, which they never recovered from.

SRH vs MI

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, MI's decision proved spot on. Veteran pacer Trent Boult was exceptional with the new ball, removing Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma cheaply.

Deepak Chahar joined the act by dismissing Ishan Kishan and Nitish Reddy, reducing SRH to a disastrous position early on. While Heinrich Klaasen (71 off 44) played a lone hand to help SRH reach 143/8, it was far from a competitive total. Boult finished with figures of 4/26, while Chahar impressed with 2/12.

In response, Mumbai started with aggression. Ryan Rickelton struck a brisk 11 before falling to Jaydev Unadkat. But it was Rohit Sharma's classy 70 off just 46 balls that stole the show.

The former MI skipper smashed eight boundaries and three sixes, anchoring the chase with elegance and authority. Will Jacks chipped in with a quick 22, while Suryakumar Yadav (40* off 19) provided the finishing touches in his trademark style. MI chased down the target in just 15.4 overs, showcasing their batting depth and ruthless intent.

Despite being the away team, Rohit Sharma received a rousing ovation from the Hyderabad crowd-a nod to his early IPL days with the now-defunct Deccan Chargers.

His performance not only rekindled memories of those times but also underlined his resurgence in the ongoing season, having now scored back-to-back half-centuries.

The loss pushes SRH further down the table to 9th position, while Mumbai with renewed momentum climbs up to 3rd position. For SRH, the inability of the top order to handle the swing and pace upfront remains a glaring concern, while MI will be delighted with their all-round show and increasing consistency in both departments.
