SRH vs PBKS IPL 2025: Abhishek Sharma’s Blistering 141 Powers Sunrisers Hyderabad to Record Chase Over Punjab Kings

SRH vs PBKS: Abhishek Sharma produced a batting masterclass, hammering 141 off just 55 deliveries, as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pulled off a record-breaking 8-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match 27 of the IPL 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Chasing an imposing 246-run target, the home side romped home in only 18.3 overs, scripting one of the greatest run chases in the league's history.

SRH vs PBKS

Punjab Kings Blaze Their Way to 245

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, PBKS unleashed a ferocious assault with the bat. Skipper Shreyas Iyer led the charge with a scintillating 82 from just 36 balls, laced with 6 boundaries and 6 towering sixes, maintaining a jaw-dropping strike rate of 227.78. He received strong support from Prabhsimran Singh, who chipped in with a 23-ball 42, while Priyansh Arya played a whirlwind cameo, smashing 36 off just 13 balls.

Despite facing a batting onslaught, SRH's Harshal Patel emerged as a silver lining with the ball, grabbing 4 wickets for 42 runs. Young pacer Eshan Malinga also impressed in the death overs, picking up two vital wickets to prevent further damage.

Abhishek, Head Power SRH to Historic Chase

In reply, SRH came out with a clear plan - attack from the outset. Openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were relentless, hammering the Punjab bowling attack during a sensational 171-run opening partnership in just 12.2 overs.

Head played the perfect foil with a brisk 66 from 37 balls, but it was Abhishek who stole the spotlight. The 24-year-old left-hander from Punjab, retained for a hefty ₹14 crore, played one of the most explosive innings in IPL history. He bludgeoned 14 fours and 10 sixes on his way to a 40-ball century - the second-fastest ever for an SRH player - and eventually walked back for a magnificent 141.

Even after Abhishek's dismissal in the 17th over, SRH never lost momentum. Heinrich Klaasen (21* off 10) and Ishan Kishan (9* off 6) comfortably guided their team across the finish line with nine balls remaining.
