Sunrisers Hyderabad's Abhishek Sharma has opened up on his note celebration following a maiden Indian Premier League century, revealing that he wrote the note for the Orange Army on the match day, feeling it was his day, but his opening partner Travis Head disagrees.
Abhishek smashed 141 runs off 55 balls to help SRH pull off the second highest chase in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, chasing down a target of 246 set by Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The 24-year-old, who has two centuries in his 17-match international career, reached the three figure mark for the first time in IPL. To mark the moment, the left-handed batter pulled out a note from his pocket, which read "This one is for the Orange Army".

Following the match, Abhishek said that he had written the note on the morning of the matchday (April 12, Saturday). The southpaw also revealed that he wrote the note as he felt it was his day.
"I wrote it today itself,- because I usually wake up and write something. I got a random thought that if I do something today, that would be for Orange Army. Luckily, today I felt it was my day." Sharma told the broadcasters.
However, his opening partner Head, who was at the other end witnessing all the carnage and sharing a 171-run stand, had a different take on the note in Abhishek's pocket.
After SRH's 8-wicket win, Head revealed that the note had been in Abhishek's pocket since the start of the season and he was glad he got the opportunity to pull it out after six games. "The note has been in the pocket of Abhishek Sharma for 6 games, glad it came out tonight," said the Australian batter.
The note celebration aside, Abhishek further added about inventing new shots and how he has added playing behind the wicket to his arsenal of the strokeplay in front of the wicket. Abhishek hammered 10 sixes in his innings.
"If you've seen me close enough, I never play anything behind the wicket, but I was still trying few shots because they had a pretty good plan for us outside off. So, I wanted to just invent few shots which I think was very easy on this pitch because of the bounce and the (boundary) size on one side." the SRH batter added.
