'It was evident': Sachin Tendulkar knew Virat Kohli century was on the way

Virat Kohli played an exceptional knock on Thursday to rally Royal Challengers Bangalore forward in the IPL 2023. His fantastic century took RCB home against SRH at the Uppal Stadium and now the Bangalore outfit have all in their hands before the final league game.

And legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar got the feeling of a Virat Kohli storm in the early days of the latter's inning against SRH. Kohli batted in sublime fashion for RCB as he scored 100 runs off just 63 balls.

It is the batter's first century in this IPL season, and 6th overall in IPL, which made him level with former RCB batter Chris Gayle with the most IPL centuries.

And Sachin Tendulkar says 'it was evident' that Kohli will play a big knock on Thursday, as the signings were already there at very early stage. Kohli started off the chase with a fantastic boundary in the very first ball, and Tendulkar says that was the clear indication.

"It was evident that this would be Virat's day from the very first ball when he played that cover drive," Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.

Kohli, along with RCB captain Faf du Plessis added 172 runs for the first wicket as RCB chased down the total of 187 with four balls to spare. The win has taken them to 4th in the IPL table, which means a victory in the final match of the season will guarantee them a playoff spot.

This was the second 150+ partnership between Kohli and Du Plessis this season. The pair played some great shots and Tendulkar reckons they were also industrious enough to keep the scoreboard ticking.

"Virat and Faf both looked in total control. They not only played many big shots but also ran rather well between the wickets to build a successful partnership," Tendulkar added.

RCB will play defending Champions Gujarat Titans in their final league match on Sunday (May 21).
