By MyKhel Staff

Hyderabad, Apr 25: Royal Challengers Bengaluru emerged victorious against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), ending their six-match losing streak with a convincing 35-run win in IPL 2024.

The match, played on Thursday (April 25) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, witnessed an explosive innings from Rajat Patidar and a stellar performance from RCB's spinners, setting the stage for a clinical win.

Patidar's remarkable fifty off just 20 balls provided the much-needed firepower to RCB's batting lineup. His aggressive approach stood in stark contrast to Virat Kohli's measured innings of 51 runs off 43 balls.

Together, they orchestrated a formidable total of 206 for seven after RCB won the toss and elected to bat. Despite SRH's strong batting lineup, they fell short in their chase, managing only 171 for eight in their allotted 20 overs.

For RCB, the victory was a significant turnaround, especially after losing seven of their first eight games in the season. Conversely, the loss marked SRH's third defeat in eight matches, highlighting the competitive nature of the IPL.

RCB capitalised on the effectiveness of their spinners right from the start, with part-time off-spinner Will Jacks opening the bowling and claiming the early wicket of Travis Head.

Left-arm spinner Swapnil Singh, making his RCB debut, made an immediate impact by dismissing the dangerous duo of Aiden Markram and Henrich Klaasen in his first over. Leg-spinner Karn Sharma further compounded SRH's woes by picking up crucial wickets in the middle overs.

Patidar's explosive knock was complemented by timely contributions from Cameron Green and Swapnil Singh in the death overs, propelling RCB past the 200-run mark. Despite a strong start from Kohli and Faf du Plessis, RCB lost momentum in the middle overs before Kohli and Patidar's partnership steadied the ship.

Patidar's aggressive batting display, which included four consecutive sixes off Mayank Markande, showcased his ability to change the course of the game. His fifty off just 19 balls contrasted with Kohli's more measured approach, highlighting the diversity of batting styles in the IPL.
