Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) kick start their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the second match of the new season on Sunday (March 23).
Last season’s runners up SRH will continue to be captained by Australian Test skipper Pat Cummins, while Riyan Parag will lead RR in the absence of regular captain Sanju Samson, who is yet to be cleared to keep wickets and will play as a specialist batter in the first few matches.

Sunrisers’ batting absolutely dominated most games last season thanks to their opening pair Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, who blew away sides inside the powerplay, while the likes of Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen applied the finishing touches.
Having already smashed several batting records last year, SRH has added more fire power in the form of Ishan Kishan, and also added Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel, Adam Zampa and Rahul Chahar to strengthen their bowling attack.
Royals, on the other hand, retained the entire quota of players, but lost some key players at the auction, where they also looked to fill some voids by adding Sri Lankan spin twins Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana to their gun batting line up.
The the two sides cross paths in their 21st meeting in IPL history, and their sixth clash in Hyderabad. Here is a look at SRH vs RR head to head numbers and all the other details.
