SRH vs RR, IPL 2024: Twitterati slams Aiden Markram for his utter-flop display in Qualifier 2

SRH vs RR: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are locking horns with Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2024. The marquee clash is currently being played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bowl first based on the conditions and what Chepauk wicket would offer them in the latter half of the innings. SRH did get off to a good start but at the expense of losing three wickets inside the powerplay overs.

Aiden Markram

Trent Boult was the wrecker-in-chief as he dismissed Abhishek Sharma (12), Rahul Tripathi (37) and Aiden Markram (1). Meanwhile, the cricket fraternity's attention turned towards Aiden Markram as the latter failed to bring the best out of himself.

The former SRH skipper has been in disastrous form this season, mustering just 201 runs in 11 appearances at an average of 20.5 and a strike rate of 122.5. Apart from his match-winning fifty against CSK, he hasn't been able to make a telling impact with the bat.

As a result, he was not a regular feature for the Sunrisers this season. After he got back into the playing XI, he failed to make his presence count as he fell prey to Boult's delivery in the last ball of the fifth over. Markram saw the width outside off on Boult's length ball and even threw his arms at it.

As it turned out, he got an outside edge off his bat before the ball travelled towards Yuzvendra Chahal at short third man who took a catch in his safe pair of hands by crouching low. Soon after his dismissal, several users took to X (previously Twitter) and slammed the batter for his woeful batting display in Qualifier 2.

The majority of the SRH supporters wanted Glenn Phillips to have a game. The Kiwi player could have been a better option than Markram, who hasn't got going this season.

This user thinks Markram has already played his last match for the Orange army.
