In the second match of IPL 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) showcased a dominant performance against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Opting to bat first, SRH posted a formidable total of 286/6 in their 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Ishan Kishan, who marked his franchise debut with a scintillating 45-ball century, his maiden in the IPL. Travis Head scored a rapid 67 off 31 balls, setting a solid foundation for SRH.

The 2024 finalists surmounted the second-highest total in IPL history, as the likes of Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy also played superbly.
Chasing a daunting target of 287, RR faced early setbacks with Simarjeet Singh striking twice in quick succession, reducing them to 25/2. Captain Riyan Parag's departure added to their woes. However, a resilient partnership between Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel offered a glimmer of hope. After their dismissals, Shimron Hetmyer and Shubham Dubey tried hard but fell short off 44 runs.
There were not many moments which turned the match. Sunrisers Hyderabad were excellent with the bat from the get-go. The SRH batters dominated and Rajasthan Royals were already on the back foot after the first innings.
But still, if we are to consider the turning point of a match, it was the double wicket of Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel within two balls, which completely broke the backbone of the visitors. Sanju Samson and Jurel both had an amazing partnership in the match. The duo added 111 runs for the fourth wicket and kept their hopes.
But as Samsung departed, Dhruv followed suit within a couple of deliveries. And that is the moment which kind of put the final nail in the Rajasthan Royals coffin. Although Hetmyer and Shubham Dubey played superbly, the target was always too big to attain for the Royals.
