Abhishek Sharma has made a meteoric rise in the IPL 2024 with his bat, but the player showcased his bowling skills against Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 2 match on Friday (May 24).
Abhishek didn't score many with bat as he got dismissed for just 12 runs in 5 balls, but compensated for that with an excellent bowling spell in the Rajasthan run chase.

The 23-year-old bowled the full quota of his four overs, conceded just 24 runs and picked up 2 crucial wickets. He got the prized wicket of RR captain Sanju Samson, and then had a crucial breakthrough by casting Shimron Hetmyer at a crucial point of the match.
Although Sharma is known for his batting, the Punjab-born is equally potent with his left-arm spin, which was in full show on Friday, bamboozling the RR batters. Sharma has been mentored by former India star Yuvraj Singh and credits the Indian all-rounder for playing a massive part in his career.
Yuvraj himself was a left-arm spinner, but when it comes to bowling, Abhishek chose to name a different person for sharpening his skills. When asked about his bowling, the player credited his father for helping him with the bowling.
"I've been working on my batting which has gone well for the last two years. But I've been working on my bowling with my dad. So special mention to my dad," Abhishek said after the match.
The player played a key part in Punjab's triumphant Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign, and credited the momentum in his rich vein of form rooted from that domestic tournament.
"It came from Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. We won the Trophy for Punjab and the momentum came from there. I had confidence for this season from the conversations in the meetings where the batters were given freedom," he added.
SRH, after the Qualifier 2 victory, will be taking on Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 Final on Sunday (May 26).
