SRH vs RR: When Will Sanju Samson Play In Today's IPL 2025 Match As Riyan Parag Replaces Him As Captain?

Rajasthan Royals have already announced that Riyan Parag will take on the captaincy duties for the team's first three matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as regular skipper Sanju Samson is recovering from a finger injury.

But at toss ahead of the SRH vs RR clash in Hyderabad on Sunday, Parag revealed that Samson is named as one of the impact players and will be utilised as per need. After winning the toss, Rajasthan have opted to bowl first.

Injury Setback for Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson sustained a finger injury during India's T20I series against England last month. The incident occurred during the fifth T20I in Mumbai, where the wicketkeeper-batter was struck by a sharp bouncer from Jofra Archer. Following the blow, Samson underwent surgery to address the damage. His recovery and rehabilitation took place at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Having completed his rehabilitation, Samson rejoined the Rajasthan Royals squad last week. While he will not take on wicketkeeping responsibilities initially, he remains an integral part of the batting lineup.

Dhruv Jurel Keeps Wickets

With Samson stepping back from wicketkeeping duties, young Dhruv Jurel have don the gloves for the Royals. Jurel, known for his sharp skills behind the stumps and his aggressive batting style, will have a significant role to play.

Jofra Archer in the Spotlight

In a curious twist, Jofra Archer, who inadvertently caused Samson's injury, will be seen in action for the Royals. Archer's express pace and wicket-taking abilities are likely to be key for the Royals as they aim to start their season on a strong note.

The Royals will rely on Riyan Parag's leadership during the initial phase of the tournament. Parag, who has been with the franchise since 2019, will have the opportunity to showcase his captaincy skills.

Fans will be eager to see how the dynamic Rajasthan squad, featuring a mix of experienced players and young talent, performs under Parag's leadership as they set their sights on a successful IPL 2025 campaign.
