Sri Lanka vs Australia, World Cup 2023: Australia has successfully achieved their first win in the ICC World Cup 2023, triumphing over Sri Lanka by five wickets on Monday (October 16) at Lucknow's Ekana Stadium.

The victory has lifted Australia from the bottom of the ICC 2023 World Cup points table, while Sri Lanka have slumped the third straight defeat.

Sri Lanka experienced another disappointing performance on the batting front. Despite an initial promising collaboration that yielded 125 runs, they fell apart once again. The team underwent a drastic loss of ten wickets for a mere 84 runs, and were bundled out for just 209 runs.

Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera were excellent though. The pair added 125 runs for 1st wicket. Nissanka scored a decent 62 while Perera scored 78 runs.

Adam Zampa's magical spin decoded the Sri Lankan batting lineup. It was a middle-order procession for them as Zampa ran through the batters. The Australian leg-spinner ended up picking 4 wickets.
