Virat Kohli and India could achieve some fine numbers at Kotla

Bengaluru, December 1: India and Sri Lanka will face each other in the third Test at Ferozeshah Kotla from Saturday (December 2).

Some milestones are waiting to happen and here's a close at a few of them.

9: If India draw or win this Test, this will be their ninth consecutive series win - highest by a team. So far two teams have managed that - Australia (2005-2008) and England (1884-1892).

33: India have so far played 33 Tests at Kotla. Only Eden Gardens (41) have hosted more Tests. India have 13 Tests at Kotla and only at MA Chidambaram Stadium the hosts have more matches - 14.

1987: India lost a Test at Kotla 30 years ago. West Indies beat India by five wickets.

25: Virat Kohli requires just 25 runs to reach the 5000-run mark in Test cricket. If he manages it, he will be the 11th Indian to do so. Kohli may also become the third fastest Indian to achieve the feat after Sunil Gavaskar (95) and Sachin Tendulkar (103). Rahul Dravid took 108 innings.

21: Virat Kohli is currently tied with Sourav Ganguly for the number of Test wins as captain and a win at Kotla will take the Delhiite to 22 and ahead of the Kolkatan. MS Dhoni leads the table with 27 Test wins as captain.

4: Both Kohli and Cheteswar Pujara have 4 hundreds in 2017 and they could equal South African Dean Elgar, who has 5 five tons this year.

52: R Ashwin has taken 52 wickets in 2017 and he's three behind leading wicket taker of the year - Kaigiso Rabada of South Africa. Ashwin has a chance to overtake Rabada.
