Stuart Broad announced a shock retirement on Saturday after the end of Day 3 play of the ongoing Ashes 2023 fifth and final Test match at The Oval in London.
He stated that he had always wanted to end his career on a high. Broad recently became the only the second pacer in the history of Test cricket to complete 600 wickets. He also became the first bowler to take 150 or more wickets against Australia. Overall, only five bowlers including Broad have picked 150 wickets against a single opposition.

The decision is also going to give Broad ample time to spend with his fiancee Mollie King. The two have been in love head over heels ever since they rekindled their love after a brief breakup in 2018.
Mollie, an English pop singer, song writer, radio presenter and a member of girl group The Saturdays, sent a get-well message to Broad after a suggestion from a friend while the pacer was recovering from an injury.
The 36-year-old and Broad were first rumoured to be dating each other in 2012 and were in an on-off relationship until they broke up in 2018 and unfollowed each other on Instagram.
The 37-year-old England cricketer dated lingerie model Bealey Mitchell. Reports have suggested that the two were together for three years.
Once the relationship with Mitchell got over, love blossomed again between Broad and Mollie in 2019. The star couple took their relationship into the next stage this time by getting engaged on New Year's Day 2021. Plans of marriage were also on the cards in the same year but Covid-19 pandemic postponed it.
The couple are yet to fix a marriage date but are parents to a baby girl Annabella Hope Broad who was born in November 2022. The daughter has the middle name 'Hope' as she provided motivation and purpose to Mollie who lost her father to brain tumour days after her birth.
