Melbourne, Nov 15: Mystery over the suicide of famous Cricket commentator Peter Roebuck took a new turn when media reports started claiming that Roebuck committed suicide as he could have been arrested allegedly over sexual assault.

Media reports said that the 55-year-old commentator wanted to have sex with a male friend against his (friend's) consent. According to a South African website, Roebuck met with that guy in the social networking site - Facebook.

The Herald Sun reported, "It is alleged Roebuck met a man at the hotel with plans to discuss a possible university sponsorship."

"Roebuck is alleged to have tried to seduce the Facebook friend and have sex with him against his will, The New Age website said," added the daily.

However, investigating police officials rejected to comment on the issue. Roebuck committed suicide after jumping from his room in the Southern Sun Hotel.
