Sunil Gavaskar, a revered figure in cricket, has outrightly denied authoring an article that was falsely published under his name. The former India player has now threatened to take legal action against the publishers, which is a digital platform.
The piece in question, which appeared on an online media outlet, falsely attributed glowing praise from Gaskar towards Indian cricket stars Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli.

In a video message, Gavaskar expressed his dismay and alerted his followers, noting, "Never believe everything you see on the Internet #alwaysverify."
"Hi, this is Sunil Gavaskar and I want to say that there is a website Cricket Ception which has printed an article under my name. I have to say that that is completely fake, I have not contributed to that at all and I want to tell that website to take it down immediately."
He further emphasized the seriousness of the matter by threatening legal action if the website did not issue an apology and retracted the article promptly.
"Issue an apology. If you don't do that immediately, I will give the matter to my legal team. So don't believe a word of what you've read, this is a completely fake article and attributed to me," Gavaskar added.
The controversial article, titled "A New Era in Leadership: Bumrah's Captaincy and Kohli's Leadership Revive Team India," appeared on the evening of Friday. It falsely heralded a new chapter of Indian cricket which fabricated words. It had written that the India legend said the BCCI to looking for a new leader and Rohit Sharma missing the first Test was a blessing in disguise.
The severity of the incident can be understood as the legendary cricketer posted the video amid his commentary commitment in Perth.
On the other hand, India is on top of Australia at the end of the 2nd day in Perth. After skittling the hosts for just 104 runs, the Indian team made merry with their batting in the 2nd innings. Both Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul have batted brilliantly as the visitors are 172 for no loss, carrying a solid lead of 218 runs.
