
2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad will open their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 campaign at home against inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals on Sunday (April 2), the third matchday of the season.
SRH, who have revamped their squad ahead of the season, will play their first away match against Lucknow Super Giants at the BRSABV Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Friday (April 7). In total, they will play 14 fixtures in the league stage like every other team.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad will play three of their matches in the afternoon (3:30 PM) and 11 matches in the evening (7:30 PM).
SRH are in IPL 2023 Group B alongside four-time winners Chennai Super Kings, current holders Gujarat Titans, two-time runners up Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings.
The Hyderabad-based franchise will face all the four teams in their Group only once (either home or away), while they will face the team drawn in the other group - Group A twice (home and away).
So, they will face record champions Mumbai Indians, last year runners up RR, LSG and two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders twice during the league stage.
SRH will face southern rivals RCB at home on May 18 after travelling to Chennai to face CSK at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 21. They will face PBKS at home on April 9 and defending champions GT away at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 15.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will face five-time champions MI at home on April 18 and travel to Mumbai for the reverse fixture on May 21, their final league stage match.
SRH will travel to Kolkata on April 14 to face KKR at the Eden Gardens and will later host the two-time champions in the reverse fixture on May 4. RCB will host LSG at home for the reverse fixture on May 13.
SRH will host Delhi Capitals on April 24 and travel five days later to Delhi to face DC at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 29.
SRH, who have played away from home in the past few seasons due to COVID pandemic restrictions, will finally play their home matches at home - Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. They will look forward to the support from the Orange Army at the venue.
