Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) missed the IPL crown in the last season where they finished as runners-up in the showdown against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) The Knight Riders beat the Sunrisers by 8 wickets to win their third title. For the 2025 season, SRH have bolstered their core who proved their worth in the 2024 campaign.

The 2016 IPL champions made huge investments in retaining the key players. SRH have kept faith in young Indian talent by retaining Nitish Kumar Reddy for INR 6 crore. The 21-year-old has witnessed a substantial increase in his value from the INR 20 lakh he was initially bought for at the 2023 auction.

IPL 2025 Retention: List of players retained by SRH

1. Heinrich Klaasen: INR 23 crore

2. Pat Cummins: INR 18 crore

3. Abhishek Sharma: INR 14 crore

4. Travis Head: INR 14 crore

5. Nitish Kumar Reddy: INR 6 crore

Travis Head has been retained for INR 14 crore, a significant jump from the INR 6.8 crore SRH initially invested to secure his services at the 2024 auction in Dubai. Head had a scintillating IPL 2024 campaign, amassing 567 runs in 15 matches at a remarkable strike rate of 191.5 and an average of 40.50.

Skipper Pat Cummins remains the backbone of SRH, with the franchise retaining him for INR 18 crore. Under Cummins' astute leadership, SRH reached the finals in the last season. After missing out on the title last time, the Australian will be hungry to inspire his side to a title-winning campaign this time.

The South African wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen has been retained for INR 23 crore after another impactful season. He was initially bought for INR 5.25 crore in IPL 2023 season. He scored 448 runs in that season including 1 century and 2 fifties at a strike rate of 177.08 and justified his value. He was retained by the franchise in the subsequent season. In 2024, he scored 479 runs at an impressive average of 39.92 and a strike rate of 177.08, tallying four fifties in the season.

Young talent Abhishek Sharma has been retained at Rs 14 crore. The 24-year-old had a breakthrough season in IPL 2024 where he scored 484 runs at an average of 32.27 and a strike-rate of 204.22, laced with 3 half-centuries. He had a successful partnership with Travis Head, amassing 599 runs in 13 innings at 13.21 runs per over.
