By MyKhel Staff

In the recent annals of T20 cricket, if one player has been the standout performer for India, that is Suryakumar Yadav.

The Mumbai-born batting colossus has been scintillating in the format, scoring runs for his franchise and the national team prolifically. Suryakumar, who is also currently the T20I captain for India, has set a certain benchmark, which many budding stars look to emulate, and one of them is Abhishek Pathak, who is making name in the Madhya Pradesh T20 tournament.

Abhishek Pathak lit up the Madhya Pradesh League 2025 with one of the most explosive innings of the season - a stunning 133 off just 48 balls for Bundelkhand Bulls against his former team, Jabalpur Royal Lions. His century came in only 33 balls, the second-fastest in MPL history, and included 15 sixes and 7 fours. Bundelkhand posted 246/6 and went on to win the high-scoring clash by 19 runs.

The knock wasn't just about brute power - it reflected the influence of one of Pathak's biggest inspirations - Suryakumar Yadav. The Madhya Pradesh player is a massive fan of the India star and made it clear that he is trying to emulate SKY's path.

"I want to learn consistency from Suryakumar Yadav. That's something I keep working towards," Pathak said after the match, having played with the same fearless intent.

Just a few days earlier, he blasted a 13-ball fifty and scored 75 off 22 balls to help his team chase down 244 - the highest successful chase in MPL history.

Pathak isn't new to delivering big performances. In MPL 2024, he finished as the second-highest run-scorer with 269 runs in five matches and helped Jabalpur win the title with a 142* off 62 balls. Now playing for Bundelkhand, he made a strong statement by taking down his former side.

Pathak shared that he began playing cricket at the age of 13 and has represented Madhya Pradesh at various age levels - U16, U19, U23 - and even featured in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He said the journey has had its ups and downs, but it's been a special one.

He added that the support from his family and those around him has always been strong. No one ever stopped him or questioned his passion, which made a big difference. As for the IPL, Pathak said he prefers to stay focused on the present. He's not looking too far ahead and simply wants to keep performing wherever he gets the chance.
