Suryakumar Yadav is set to stay out of auction for at least seven weeks after suffering a Grade-II tear in his ankle, an Indian Express report has revealed. The number one ranked T20I batter injured himself while fielding in the third and final T20I in Johannesburg.
The report has stated that the 33-year-old went for scans after coming back from South Africa. If everything goes as per the plan, he should be back on the field by the first week of February.

The three-match home T20I series against Afghanistan starts from January 11 in Mohali. These are the only three T20I matches India would play before the T20 World Cup 2024 in June. The Indian players will be relying on their IPL outings to prepare themselves for the showpiece event.
“He will take some time to recover. He will have to report to the National Cricket Academy later to do his rehabilitation. He is surely going to miss the Afghanistan series,” source in the Indian board informed.
When asked about his injury after India’s thumping 106-run victory in the third T20I, Suryakumar Yadav had said: “I am good. I am walking, so good.” He scored a match-winning hundred in the match.
The Mumbai batter has led the Indian T20I team in the last T20I series in the absnece of injured Hardik Pandya. He guided India to a 4-1 in the 5-match T20I series against Australia just after the World Cup 2023. India lost the second T20I in South Africa after the first T20I was washed out due to rain. He scored 56 in the second T20I and went a step ahead to hit a ton in the third game to help India level the series 1-1.
