‘We’ll Be Stronger Than Ever’ Suryansh Shedge Backs PBKS Comeback After Mid-Season Stumble Ahead Of DC Clash
Punjab Kings (PBKS) entered the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season as one of the tournament favourites. The side reached the finals in the last season of the IPL but suffered an unlucky defeat to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who won their first IPL trophy. However, it seems that last year's defeat is now a thing of the past.
The side appears to have carried that momentum into this season as well, looking refreshed and reinvigorated. Out of the 10 matches that the side played, the side won 6it on theith one match against the Kolkata Knight Riders was washed out. However, after that smooth run, PBKS have hit a significant roadblock, suffering three consecutive defeats. In most scenarios, such a slump would deal a heavy blow to team morale, raising concerns about how a side that began so promisingly has suddenly found itself in a downward spiral.

However, young cricketer Suryansh Shedge believes that his team is completely focused and is taking one game at a time. Ahead of the upcoming clash with the Delhi Capitals, Suryansh Shedge spoke in a roundtable media conference with Soumyaroop Mukherjee from MyKhel, where he outlined the team's mentality and the morale to face such situations.
Suryansh Shedge Shares Team's Strategy In Tough Phase
Reflecting on their smooth journey during the six-game winning streak, the young cricketer noted that the team looked at the areas to improve rather than becoming complacent with the winning streak. "So, the talks are always around, if we're able to play near our best, we're bound to beat any given team on any given day," Shedge added.
He admitted that the last three matches haven't reflected their best cricket, but stressed that such phases are part of the game. But looking back in those games, he said that there were many positives that the team can take inspiration from, especially the way the PBKS bowlers have responded to the situation.
"But if you look at it in hindsight, a lot of things have clicked. Our bowlers have stepped up in one of those games," Shedge said. He added that setbacks like these, if approached with the right mindset, can actually strengthen the group by improving unity and bonding within the team.
Impact Of Prabhsimran, Priyansh Arya & Other Youngsters
He pointed out that the impact ultimately comes down to hunger. With several uncapped players eager to prove themselves and contribute to wins, the entire group is driven and motivated. Suryansh further said that the fearless mindset that these young cricketers come up with had a strong influence on his batting as well.
"Seeing them play with freedom and stay true to themselves, even in high-pressure situations, has been particularly inspiring," he added. Suryansh also feels that the positive attitude has gradually spread across the team, fostering greater confidence and unity within the squad.
Ahead of the crucial clash against Delhi Capitals, the youngster made it clear that despite their remarkable performance against DC earlier [where they pulled off a record chase], the focus is firmly on the present. He stressed that the team is treating every match as a fresh start rather than dwelling on past results.
Punjab currently sit fourth on the table with 13 points, and a win in this fixture would take them to 15, putting them firmly on course toward the 18-point mark typically needed to secure a playoff spot.
