Suvronil Roy, a name that has grown familiar with the ISPL viewers in this year as the Season 2 of Indian Street Premier League unfolded in a blockbuster fashion.
Representing Srinagar Ke Veer, the pacer from Bengal showcased his class and might in the tournament. Playing his first season in the Tennis Ball tournament, Suvronil emerged as a top performer in ISPL 2025, picking up 15 wickets.

Along with his excellent bowling, Suvronil gained popularity for his passionate celebrations as well. The Bengal-born player was pivotal in his team's journey to the final and did quite well in the championship clash, but not enough to win his team the title.
But despite that, Suvronil has made a name for himself in it. With his elite bowling prowess and passion for cricket, the Srinagar boy has the potential to make a big name for himself in the ISPL.
MyKhel recently had an exclusive chat with Suvronil, where he opened up on his journey in the ISPL, and also noted a glaring shock which he had to face as a youngster playing leather ball cricket for Bengal.
Suvronil has immense gratitude for his family who supported in his journey and says he was lucky to participate in such a grand tournament as ISPL.
"I would like to say that my parents, brother and some other people have supported me a lot. The last time, when I saw ISPL, when I saw the auction, I was very excited that I could play in such a big event. A lot of people say that you can't achieve anything by playing tennis ball cricket. But now, such a big tournament has been organized. So, I am very happy that I could participate in such a tournament."
It was not the brightest start for Suvronil in the ISPL, but slowly he grasped the trick and since was a lethal weapon for Srinagar. Along with the wickets, the vigorous celebration has earned a lot of popularity among the fans. And Suvronil says a certain South African being the inspiration behind that.
"At first, I was a little nervous while playing the match. But, I got used to it. But, there is a person in my wicket life whom I consider my idol and I have grown up watching him - Dale Steyn from South Africa. I was very inspired by him. So, I just try to emulate his celebration," Suvronil says.
Apart from the cricket on the field, the ISPL is boosted with the monumental presence of some stalwarts across fields. Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, Srinagar owner and filmstar Akshay Kumar - all graced the ISPL final and Suvronil was in awe. He also got the Catch of the Final award for a fantastic grab.
"I don't know what to say. In the final, Mr. Sachin Tendulkar, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and others - there were many more people with whom I had a great time. They all inspired me a lot. So, it was a unique experience for me to play in such a unique environment. And it was great to get the catch award as well."
When it comes to learning, the player says the time flew very fast and in a jiffy, but confirms that the ISPL experience has taught him a plethora of things.
As Suvronil returned to his hometown in Murshidabad, the player was bestowed with a heartwarming reception. And Suvronil says the smile on his parents' faces is the biggest achievement.
"I have received a lot of blessings from people. Everyone supported me a lot. The biggest thing at home is that my parents and brothers are very happy."
The ISPL has revolutionized the landscape of Tennis Ball cricket in this country. The millions who fail to take the next step, have gone on to shine in the tournament, which has provided a deserved and grand platform, along with financial securities. And Suvronil, having tasted it, wants to make ISPL a key part of his life.
"ISPL has been such an experience for me, and just want to play in the ISPL as long as I play cricket."
