After a six-year hiatus, the T20 Mumbai League is back and ready to light up the domestic cricket scene with its third edition. As excitement builds, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has officially unveiled the icon players who will captain each of the eight franchises-laying the foundation for a high-octane season ahead.
The tournament will comprise of eight teams which will start immediately after the conclusion of the IPL 2025.

This announcement not only signals the return of one of India's premier city-based T20 tournaments but also kickstarts the countdown to the Season 3 mega auction, set to take place on May 7 in Mumbai. Each franchise has secured the services of a marquee player for a fixed sum of ₹20 lakh, designating them as both the face and captain of their respective sides.
From India internationals to seasoned domestic performers, the line-up of icon captains promises to inject experience, charisma, and competitive edge into the tournament. These leaders are expected to bring tactical depth and guide young talents throughout the campaign-staying true to the league's vision of developing grassroots cricket while offering fans top-tier action.
The tournament will be staged at the Wankhede Stadium from May 26 to June 8, with the eight captains set to lead their teams into what promises to be a tightly contested and entertaining season.
India T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane will be playing for the teams in the Mumbai T20 League this year. Apart from that, the struggling Mumbai and India star Prithvi Shaw is the Icon Player for the North Mumbai Panthers side in the tournament. Sarfaraz Khan, Tushar Deshpande, Shardul Thakur and Shivam Dube are also among the icons.
