T20 Mumbai League 2025: Shreyas Iyer to Suryakumar Yadav - Top 5 Iconic Moments Ahead of Season 3

By MyKhel Staff

Cricket fever is all set to grip Mumbai as the much-anticipated T20 Mumbai League 2025 makes its grand return from June 4 to 12. One of India's premier franchise-based domestic tournaments, the league will feature eight high-energy teams vying for supremacy at two iconic venues - Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium.

The eight participating sides - North Mumbai Panthers, ARCS Andheri, Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, Bandra Blasters, Eagle Thane Strikers, Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs, SoBo Mumbai Falcons, and Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals - promise a week of high-octane cricket. With ticket prices starting at just ₹100, the tournament aims to bring fans closer than ever to the city's finest cricketing talent.

Suryakumar Yadav

As excitement builds, here's a look back at five unforgettable moments that have defined the T20 Mumbai League over the years and continue to capture its spirit.

1. Suryakumar Yadav's Captaincy Heroics in the Inaugural Final

In the very first season, Suryakumar Yadav, now the India T20I skipper, delivered one of the most iconic performances in league history. Leading the Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, Suryakumar walked in with his side in deep trouble at 34 for 5. What followed was a masterclass in counterattack - an unbeaten 90 off just 42 balls, stitched into a match-winning 148-run stand with Parikshit Valsangkar. Their effort powered the Knights to a competitive 182, which proved just enough for a thrilling 3-run victory and a historic first title. Now set for his third T20 Mumbai League appearance, Suryakumar returns with the same fearless intent and a mission to lead from the front once again.

2. Shivam Dube's Assault: Five Sixes in a Single Over

Shivam Dube, now a T20 World Cup winner and one of India's premier power-hitters, announced himself in stunning fashion during the 2019 season. Playing for Shivaji Park Lions, Dube took on veteran spinner Pravin Tambe and sent the ball soaring over the ropes five times in a single over - a moment that lit up the Wankhede Stadium and sent ripples through Indian domestic cricket. The innings mirrored Yuvraj Singh's iconic six-hitting spree and became a turning point in Dube's career. Now returning as the Icon Player for ARCS Andheri, Dube brings with him experience, raw power, and the hunger to thrill again.

3. Jay Bista's Record-Setting Century in the Semi-Final

Jay Bista etched his name into the league's folklore with the first-ever century in the T20 Mumbai League, hammering a dazzling 110 in the Season 2 semi-final. Then playing for SoBo SuperSonics, Bista's fearless strokeplay led his team to a mammoth 217 and a place in the final, knocking out the Aakash Tigers in the process. His performance earned him the Player of the Match award and a spot among the top run-scorers of the season. Fittingly, Bista will now represent the Aakash Tigers - the team he once dismantled - and will look to deliver another standout campaign in Season 3.

4. Shreyas Iyer's Ice-Cold Finish in the Season 1 Eliminator

Back in 2018, Shreyas Iyer produced one of the tournament's most composed and explosive finishes in the Season 1 Eliminator. Batting for NaMo Bandra Blasters, Iyer anchored the innings at first before shifting into high gear in the death overs. He went from a steady 45 to an unbeaten 91 in a flurry of strokes, lifting his team to a commanding total that sealed the win. Iyer's blend of timing, temperament, and finishing brilliance became a benchmark. With leadership stints in the IPL now under his belt, he returns to lead the SoBo Mumbai Falcons - a side counting on his calm under pressure and proven match-winning ability.

5. The League's Electrifying Start - Wicket on the First Ball

When the T20 Mumbai League kicked off, it did so with a bang. The very first delivery of the inaugural match saw Shivam Malhotra of North Mumbai Panthers dismiss ARCS Andheri opener Akhil Herwadkar - a dream start that instantly sparked excitement. Malhotra finished with four wickets in a game-winning spell, setting the tone for a fiercely competitive tournament. That single ball symbolized what the league stood for: opportunity, drama, and the rise of local heroes.
