The West Indies cricket team's return from India has been delayed following their exit from the Super 8 stage of the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup, after airspace closures triggered by security concerns in the Gulf Region.
In an official statement released by Cricket West Indies (CWI), the board said, "These restrictions are a direct result of the security threats posed by military action in the Gulf Region, which has impacted several international flight routes and required airlines to adjust scheduled services for safety reasons."

The board further said that it is working closely with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and other relevant governmental authorities and airlines to secure the earliest possible safe travel arrangements for the squad and support staff.
"The safety and well-being of our players, coaches, and officials remain our highest priority. The team is currently accommodated in India and remains safe and well. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates as confirmed travel arrangements are finalised," the CWI added.
The board has expressed its gratitude to fans, families, and stakeholders for their understanding and support during this period.
The Windies were thrown out of the tournament thanks to a brilliant 97 not out by Sanju Samson at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. In their final match, the West Indies Cricket team put up a competitive score of 195/4 on the board with contributions from Roston Chase (40), Shai Hope (32), Shimron Hetmyer (27), and an unbeaten 76-run partnership between Jason Holder (37*) and Rovman Powell (34*).
For India, the star performer was Jasprit Bumrah, with figures of 2/36 from his four overs. India chased down the target easily, with an unbeaten 97 off 50 balls from Sanju Samson. He was supported by Suryakumar Yadav (18 off 16) and Tilak Varma (27 off 15), as the hosts sealed a comfortable five-wicket win.
