A few IPL teams may be weakened in the final week of the tournament after the defending champions England announced their preliminary squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in June.
England squad will fly to the Caribbean on May 31 ahead of their first game against Scotland in Barbados on 4 June. They are drawn in Group B at the T20 World Cup alongside Australia, Namibia, Scotland and Oman. But before that the English side will host Pakistan.

The same squad will be used for the 4-match T20I series against Pakistan that will commence on May 22. So, as per ECB, all the players who are currently part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will have to report in time for the T20I series against Babar Azam's men, meaning a few may miss the IPL 2024 playoffs.
The IPL 2024 playoff stage is scheduled to be held from May 21, starting with the Qualifier 1 followed by the Eliminator on May 22, and Qualifier 2 on May 24 with the final set to take place on May 26.
Punjab Kings has the most number followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but these two teams are unlikely to be affected as they are a long way off making the playoff spot. However, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders could be weakened.
CSK may cope with the loss of Moeen Ali, bit Salt and Buttler have been key to the current top two in Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders, who are very likely to reach the playoffs.
A few English players, including Mark Wood and Harry Brook, had withdraw from the IPL 2024 ahead of the season. Wood was part of Lucknow Super Giants squad, while Brook was bought at the auction by Delhi Capitals. Both teams, however, signed replacement players.
