The T20 World Cup 2024, which is being held in the West Indies and USA, got underway on June 1 with the co-hosts United States beating Canada in the tournament opener.
The show-piece tournament has been expanded from the previous editions. The 2024 edition is now a 20-team competition with the teams being divided up into groups of five for the first round group stage.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eights, which will see the 8 teams being split into two groups of four, with the top two from the Super 8 groups advancing to the semifinals. The winners of the semifinal matches will then collide in the final on June 29.
All the teams had finalized their squads for the tournament alongside the coaching staff. Pakistan will have a new face in former ODI World Cup-winning coach, while a few former West Indies players are also set for roles in different teams.
