T20 World Cup 2024: India already have a foot in the semi-finals, and the match against Australia will provide them the opportunity to finish at the top of Super 8 Group 1 points table.
ICC has pre-announced that India would play the second semi-final in Guayana if they qualify for the knockout round. India are playing all day matches in the West Indies so that fans in India can watch them in the evening.

The second semi-final will start at 10:30 AM in Guyana (8:00 PM IST) on Thursday, June 27. While the first semi-final has a reserve day, the second semi-final will only get an extended 250 minutes to complete the game on the same day in case of rain.
While the venue India would be playing their semi-final match at is fixed, the opponent will also be confirmed on Tuesday morning after the match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
However, it's very likely that India will face defending champions England in their semi-final match of the T20 World Cup 2024. As per the ICC playing conditions, the table-topper of one group will play against the second-placed side in the other group of the Super 8 round.
England have finished second behind South Africa in Super 8 Group 2, and India are very likely going to top Group 1 points table. The Men in Blue have four points from two matches and the best NRR in the group ahead of their last Super 8 match against Australia on Monday (June 24).
India have a NRR of +2.425, while Australia is behind them with two points in two matches at a NRR of +0.223. Australia will have to beat India by 41 or more to surpass India's NRR. Afghanistan (-) will have to beat Bangladesh by 81 runs to surpass India's NRR.
Both the situations are highly unlikely, and India look set to finish as Group 1 table-toppers even if they lose against Australia. The second-placed team in Group 1 will face South Africa in semi-final one in Trinidad on Thursday, June 27 (6:00 AM).
