England's wait to beat a European team in the T20 World Cup continued after the defending champions' first-ever meeting in the shortest format against Scotland on Tuesday (June 4) was abandoned due to rain in Bridgetown, Barbados.
The T20 World Cup 2024 Group B encounter between England and Scotland at the Kensington Oval was called off after rain did not allow any further play. Opting to bat after a delayed start, Scotland posted 90/0 in 10 overs before showers returned again in Bridgetown.

While they have not crossed paths against most teams from the continent, England have never beaten a European side at a Men's T20 World Cup, and the rain ensured that record continued in Barbados.
In their four previous matches against European opposition, England has lost three, while 1 more game was a no result similar to the one against Scotland in 2024. England had faced Netherlands and Ireland before they met Scotland for the first time in the shortest format.
The reigning champions will be disappointed that the game was called off as they look to progress from a group that also includes Australia, Namibia and Oman apart from Scotland.
Jos Buttler's England will hope for a full match on Saturday (June 8) against Australia at the same venue. Scotland also will hope to get a win on the board when they face Namibia on Thursday (June 6).
