T20 World Cup 2024 Final Playing 11: India and South Africa named an unchanged playing eleven for the final of T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Saturday, June 29. India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first.
Eyes were on Shivam Dube, who was dismissed for a golden duck in the semi-final against England, but he retained his place for the T20 World Cup 2024 final. There were suggestions to include Sanju Samson in the India playing eleven.

South Africa also persisted with the same combination. The likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Robin Uthappa had suggested South Africa to include pacer Ottneil Baartman in pace of left-arm spinner Tabraiz Shamsi.

While India are looking to win their first ICC trophy since 2013, South Africa haven't won an ICC event since winning the inaugural Champions Trophy in 1998. South Africa have never won a World Cup (ODI for T20I). In fact, they are in the final of an ICC World Cup for the first time.
India won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, and since have faced numerous heartbreaks. They lost the final of T20 World Cup 2014, lost in the semi-final of 2015 ODI World, Cup, lost in the semi-final of T20 World Cup 2024, lost the ICC Champions Trophy final in 2017, lost the semi-final of 2019 World Cup, lost the ICC Test Championship against New Zealand and Australia in 2021 and 2023 respectively, lost the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final in 2022, and lost the 2023 ODI World Cup final.
Both India and South Africa are unbeaten in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. India defeated England in the semi-final, while South Africa thrashed Afghanistan.
