The squads for the upcoming T20 World Cup is being announced as many teams have already picked their teams for the tournament.
The 9th edition of the T20 World Cup will be held in West Indies and USA and starts from June 1. The tournament will consist of 20 teams, thus making it the biggest T20 World Cup in history.

India and Australia - two powerhouses of World cricket have also named their squad for the T20 World Cup. The two nations were the finalists in the recently concluded World Cup 2023 as Australia clinched their 6th title in the 50-ver tournament. And as it stands, both teams will be aiming to get their 2nd T20 World Cup crown this year.
Although the squads have already been announced, a few inclusions have surprised many fans and pundits. Here are four players across the two nations who were lucky to be picked in the World Cup squad-
Mitchell Starc's inclusion in the Australia squad looks like an obvious choice, but the Australian would consider himself lucky as he got picked. Starc is having a torrid time in IPL 2024 and has been out of sorts in the Kolkata Knight Riders colours. The Rs. 24.75 crore move to KKR has been an underwhelming one, to say the least. His T20 stats in the last two or three years are not encouraging, and the IPL form this season has raised a lot of question is Starc's effectiveness in this format. But the selectors have kept faith in Starc and the player must consider himself lucky for that.
Hardik Pandya will consider himself double lucky - first to be in the Indian team and then to be retained as a vice captain. The Mumbai Indians captain is having a torrid time in the IPL 2024. He has been bashed, left, right and centre for some off field reasons, but his on field performance hasn't been encouraging either. Pandya has been underwhelming with the bat while his bowling hasn't bode a lot of confidence.
He has been conceding runs at 11 runs for over and has picked up only six wickets in 10 matches. In terms of batting, pandya has scored 197 runs at an average of 21, but is yet to play a significant knock as Mumbai Indians languish at the bottom half of the table. Hence Pandya, amid all the adversities, would be very thankful that he has got in the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
David Warner is another player who will be looking forward to the World Cup after getting picked for Australia. The veteran hasn't been at his best in the IPL 2024 and has lost his place to compatriot Jake Fraser-McGurk in the franchise. Warner's batting record in the past 12 months hasn't been exemplary, and amid the Fraser-McGurk resurgence, the veteran would consider himself lucky to feature in the team.
Axar Patel's selection has come at the expense of a batter. The selectors decided to go with both Axar and Ravindra Jadeja in the squad, which is a bold move. Patel has been excellent for the Delhi Capitals without a shadow of doubt, but many of the experts discarded him in their predicted squad. Also, the decision to go with two left-arm spinners is also a baffling one and Axar would consider himself fortunate to be in the squad.
