T20 World Cup 2024 Group D Points Table: Sri Lanka's slim hopes of Super 8 qualification was further dented after their penultimate group match against Nepal was abandoned without a toss at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida on Wednesday (June 12).
Wanindu Hasaranga-led Sri Lanka needed to win their remaining two matches and hope other results go their way to stay alive in the Super 8 race from Group D. But after rain played spoilsport in their match against Nepal, all those hopes may have diminished.

Following the washout in Lauderhill, Sri Lanka and Nepal shared a point each, meaning the Group D points table remained unchanged on June 12. Here is a look at the points table:
| Rank | Team | M | W | L | NR | Points | NRR |
| 1 | South Africa (Q) | 3 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 6 | +0.603 |
| 2 | Bangladesh | 2 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 2 | +0.075 |
| 3 | Netherlands | 2 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 2 | +0.024 |
| 4 | Nepal | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | -0.539 |
| 5 | Sri Lanka | 3 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 1 | -0.777 |
Note: Top two progress to the Super 8 after the completion of the round 1 group stage matches. M – Matches, W – Won, L – Lost, NR – No Result, NRR – Net Run Rate, Q - Qualified for Super 8.
With just 1 game left for Sri Lanka, the 2104 champions are very likely headed for an early elimination from Group D with one of either Bangladesh, Nepal or Nepal in with a chance to progress from the group.
Sri Lanka will play Netherlands in their last group match on Monday (June 17), while Nepal will face group leaders South Africa on Saturday (June 15), and Bangladesh on Monday (June 17). Here is a look at the Group D schedule and results:
