T20 World Cup 2024: Bangladesh are on the cusp of becoming the second and the last team from Group D to enter into the second round of T20 World Cup 2024.
Notably, two teams from each of the four groups were to move into the second round where two groups of four teams each would be formed. South Africa became the first team to qualify for the Super 8.

Bangladesh are the favourites to become the second team from Group D to qualify for the Super 8, but will need to be extremely watchful in the next couple of days. The morning of Monday will confirm all the eight participants in the Super 8 of T20 World Cup 2024.
For joining India, Australia and Afghanistan in the Super 8 Group 1, Bangladesh have to do nothing but just beat Nepal on Monday. In that case, they will qualify even if they Netherlands beat Sri Lanka in their last game.
However, there can be a twist in the plot of if Nepal beat Bangladesh. Notably, the Asian side almost caused a major upset on Saturday as South Africa managed to beat them by just one run.
Nepal restricted South Africa for 115/7 in 20 overs and needed just one run to tie and two runs to win off the final ball. However, an unfortunate run out devoid them the chance of registering their biggest win in their cricketing history.
Star spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has given a major boost to the Nepal bowling unit and Bangladesh batters should be extremely wary of the threats lurking around.
However, even if Bangladesh lose against Nepal, they will have a chance to qualify because of a superior Net Run Rate (NRR) than Netherlands. Bangladesh has a positive NRR of + 0.478, while Netherlands have a negative NRR of -0.408. Netherlands will have to register a massive win over Sri Lanka in St Lucia on Monday.
