T20 World Cup 2024: KKR Star Sunil Narine gives final verdict on West Indies Future

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star Sunil Narine has given his verdict on his West Indies' future on Monday (April 21).

Sunil Narine has been in blistering form for Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing IPL. The West Indies star has starred with both bat and ball for the Knight Riders, and has scored a plethora of runs.

Currently, Narine has amassed 286 runs in 7 innings with a hundred to his name, while he has also picked up 9 wickets for them. Amid this, speculations arose that the 35-year-old may return for West Indies in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

But the Caribbean star says the door is closed for him for a potential return to the West Indies team for the T20 World Cup. The KKR all-rounder shared his message via the Knight Riders on Monday.

"I'm truly flattered and humbled that my performances recently have moved many people to publicly express their wish for me to come out of retirement and play in the upcoming T20 World Cup," a statement from KKR quoting Sunil Narine read.

Narine confirmed his retirement but says he will continue to support the boys in the upcoming World Cup, which takes place in the West Indies and the USA.

"I have made peace with that decision and whilst I never wish to disappoint, that door is now closed and I will be supporting the guys who take the field in June for West Indies. Guys who have worked hard for the past few months and deserve to show our wonderful fans that they are capable of winning another title," the statement from Narine added.

Although Narine won't be a part of the West Indies team, another KKR star Andre Russell will be donning the famous shirt in the World Cup. Russell has also been in terrific form for the Knights and has shown his all-round skills.
