T20 World Cup 2024: The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup is set to start from June 1, and as many as 20 teams will have their eyes on the trophy. This is the most number of nations participating in a single T20 World Cup edition.
Twelve teams participated at the T20 World Cup 2022, but the regional qualifiers have helped ICC include eight more teams. The shortest format of the game is being considered the way forward, and the likes of USA and Canada competing at the T20 World Cup is expected to enhance the growth of cricket across the globe.

USA and West Indies qualified for the T20 World Cup 2024 as the tournament hosts, while eight best-placed teams from the 2022 edition - England, Pakistan, India, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Australia and Netherlands - gained automatic qualification.
Afghanistan and Bangladesh also qualified automatically on the basis of their ICC men's T20I rankings. Ireland and Scotland made it through the European qualifier, while Nepal and Oman progressed from the Asia qualifier.
Canada emerged victorious in the Americas qualifier, whereas Namibia and Uganda were the two teams to qualify from Africa. Papua New Guinea won the East Asia-Pacific qualifier.
These 20 teams will play a total of 55 matches across nine venues (three in USA, six in West Indies) from June 1 to June 29. Four groups of five teams each have been formed for the first round.
Top two teams from each group will enter the Super Eight round where two groups will be formed. Top two from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.
