Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh has made it clear that Mumbai Indians lacked cohesion during IPL 2024 and the onus will be on the Indian team management to sort things out between Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya in the T20 World Cup.
Mumbai Indians were at the hotspot for their controversies and issues off the field during IPL 2024. They finished at the bottom of the table but the clash between Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya after the latter's appointment as MI captain replacing the former was in focus all season.

Rohit was not amused by the decision while Hardik was getting abused by their own fans the entire season. Rohit Sharma was named the India captain for T20 World Cup, while Hardik Pandya is set to deputize him. Reports also emerged that Rohit didn't want Hardik in the India team and it was the pressure from the very top which ensured Hardik's place in the team.
Amid this whirlwind, Harbhajan Singh has voiced the importance of keeping the cohesion during the T20 World Cup. He said to PTI about the importance of Hardik and Rohit coming together for the national colours, and put the responsibility on the team management to ensure that.
"It looked like they [MI] were not playing together as a team. So there was a lot going on. Hardik wasn't a free man in the last two months. I believe both of them and many others who have played in different teams will have to come together to do something special for the nation," Harbhajan said.
"Winning a World Cup is a bigger achievement than winning an IPL trophy, so I would urge the management to bring everyone together, have them on one page and make sure they play like one. I believe it's the responsibility of the management to come together, and win together. Even if they lose they should be losing together," Harbhajan added.
It is to be seen how the pair patch things up for the greater good. Both of them are senior players and surely they will put aside franchise issues and play cordially for the nation.
