The 21st Match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will witness the battle between South Africa and Bangladesh at Nassau County International Stadium in New York on Monday (June 10).

The past duels between these two teams in the T20 World Cup have been absolutely favourable to the Proteas with 3-0 dominance.

South Africa, like many other world cups in the past, this year also is a favourite to lift the trophy and started the tournament with two successive wins against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh respectively.

On the other hand, Bangladesh has beaten Sri Lanka in their maiden match by 2 wickets. Though they won both of the matches, the South African batting is still not up to the mark. The same condition is for their opponent also.

Bangladesh have expert death-over bowlers like Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain, and a match-up against the formidable South African middle-order batting line-up would be the main essence of this fixture.

Tristan Stubbs (RSA): The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has been a great addition to the already powerful South African middle order. Despite his limited exposure to international cricket, he has been in brilliant form for the last few months.

His power-hitting ability with composure has provided extra depth to the Protean batting line-up and will be helpful against Bangladesh too.

Heinrich Klaasen (RSA): The right-handed wicketkeeper-batter with an extremely destructive batting prowess, can change the fate of a match single-handedly just within a few overs.

With more than 745 runs in T20I, with a strike rate of 143 plus, the 32-year-old could be a great threat to the Bangladeshi bowlers. Though it will be a challenge for him to hit big against Mustafizur Rahman in slog overs.

Towhid Hridoy (BAN): The 23-year-old Bangladeshi right-handed batter has been in decent form in recent matches and is expected to continue the same in the next match.

This youngster has already scored 494 runs in his T20I career with a good average and strike rate. Though facing the seasoned and talented South African fast bowling would be a challenge for him, Hridoy would be a dependable option for Bangladesh in the lower middle order.

Anrich Nortje (RSA): After a quite successful campaign in the recent IPL, the right-arm fast bowler has continued his wicket-taking spree in the World Cup also.

The 30-year-old pacer has already bagged six wickets with a meagre economy rate. Nortje will be crucial in the middle overs to check the runs and get wickets against Bangladesh.

Ottneil Baartman (RSA): The 31-year-old South African right-arm medium-fast bowler has been new to international cricket. Despite his comparatively lesser experience, he has been one of the best bowlers for the Proteas so far in this tournament.

In three matches he has bagged eight wickets in his career and the two matches of the World Cup, Baartman picked five wickets with an excellent economy rate of less than three.

Mustafizur Rahman (BAN): The Bangladeshi left-arm medium-fast bowler has started the tournament just where he left the recent IPL. The 28-year-old has been a match-winner for the South Asian nation for a long time and has bagged 123 wickets in 97 matches in his T20 career.

With deadly slower deliveries and cutters, Rahman is a difficult bowler to face, mainly in the death overs. He will be the main hope for Bangladesh to stop the Protean middle order to start a run-fest.

The pitch is improving but is still challenging for batters and a slow outfield has also enhanced the problems. An expected highly humid weather could help in the swing. Hence, like the past matches, a low-scoring game full of unexpected twists can be expected.
