T20 World Cup 2024: Super 8 Group 2 points table saw new leader in England as the Jos Buttler-led side thrashed West Indies by eight wickets in their first Super 8 match in St Lucia on Thursday, June 20.

Defending champions England made a mockery of the 181-run target by winning the match by eight wickets and 15 balls remaining. Hosts West Indies had no answer to the ultra-aggressive approach of England. Phil Salt starred with unbeaten 87 runs off 47 balls.

With the win, England are now at the top of Group 2 in Super 8 round of the T20 World Cup 2024. They dethroned South Africa, who defeated USA by 18 runs in Antigua in the first Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2024 on Wednesday (June 19) in Antigua.

After winning their respective first match, England and West Indies have taken early lead in the four-team table. Notably, the top two teams from the group will qualify for the semi-finals, and lock horns against the top two teams from Group 1 consisting of India, Australia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

West Indies crushing defeat has dented their Net Run Rate as well. They are now at the bottom of the Super 8 Group 2 points table. USA gave South Africa a tough competition and are occupying the third spot.

T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 Group table-topper England will again be in action on Friday. They will go against South Africa in their quest to retain the top spot. USA will face the West Indies early on Saturday morning. England are scheduled to play their final Super 8 Group 2 match against the USA on Sunday evening.
